We did this trip last summer. We got the fast ferry to Garda and then the bus to Riva. From what I remember the ferry left at about 9.30 in the morning and we had a bit about a 20 min wait for the bus which took about 70 mins to get to Riva. We got to Riva at about midday and got the bus back at about 4 o'clock, so a decent time in the town. Other car ferries are available from Limone to Malcesine and in the high season also from Riva to Desenzano. The ferries usually have space for up to 35 cars and 300 people, and most have bars and restaurants. Aug 2018. For 20 Euro for an adult you can get a day pass and hop on and off from Malcesine to Limone, torbole and Riva. The boats are large and comfortable and the timetable good enough to see at least two of the places. Limone and Riva recommended.
