BMW N53 engine problems: The N53 engine debuted in 2006 as an option in the facelifted BMW E60 5 Series. It was the successor to the very popular BMW N52 engine and was produced from 2006 to 2013. The BMW N53 engine followed BMW’s standard formula of naturally aspirated inline six-cylinder engines, upon which BMW built its legacy.
I'll shed some details and would love some help and suggestions. Code: table 1b - 69 - Engine Coolant Temperature, plausibility. Shortly after I got my car in May 2009 I got an SES light. It would come and go after a day or two, every few months. I finally got a Peake code tool and found the above code.
I have a BMW 328i 2008. I changed the thermostat twice, water pump, and radiator but still no heat. I get heat after an hour of driving. The engine coolant temp gets to normal operating temp within 10-15 minutes if the heater is off. If I turn on the heat, the coolant temp drops from 95 G to 45C, and there is no heat at least for 1 hour.
L6 or V8 X6? My N54 doesn't have a temp. gauge, which is a shame, but the N63 B7 operates around 250, slightly above what you said yours was operating at. Check your manual, just to be sure. There could be a slight variation by model. But water pumps have been the bane of BMWs' existence, from what I have heard.
Someone even stated that the oil temps are higher in "Economy mode" compared to Comfort and Sports modes. My X4 M40i (N55 motor) runs at about 112 - 120 C (235 - 248 F). The wife's X4 2.8i (N20 motor) runs a bit cooler, say 105 - 110 C (220 - 230 F). Both numbers gleaned from the oil temp gauge in the car.
mnyarende. On my m43b19 318i, it's usually 69°C to 84°C on descending mountain roads and the latter on normal roads (terrain in my region) and 93°C to 95°C while ascending back home. I usually turn the engine off after about 10 Seconds when I park to lower a degree or 2 to remove the excess heat with the fan as the hills are really steep
